Vehicle Finance

I have had ABSA vehicle finance on my vehicle for over three years now.

This year has been a difficult one for me, firstly falling behind on my vehicle payment which I was fortunate enough to catch up with help from extended family members, after being visited by one Mr. Francios Voster (Risk Mitigation Officer) from ABSA who was not helpful and spoke down to me. Then my employment contract came to an end at the end of May 2016 leaving me unemployed for a good two months, leaving me behind on two months vehicle payments. In this time I did not contact the bank explaining my issue as I felt ashamed of my situation. Fortunately I found further employment in August 2016 and once paid then contacted the bank to make an arrangement, explaining my issue along with the fact that I was now employed for a lesser NETT salary. At the moment I still find myself behind on payments but have been paying the back regularly since re-employment. I recently received another visit from one Mr. F. Voster who has demanded (very unpleasently and without taking me the client and my situation into consideration) that I settle the outstanding payments by Friday 4th November 2016 (which is impossible for me at the moment) or face reposession of my vehicle without giving me any further options. I feel the manner in which this gentlemen conducts himself as a representative of ABSA is completely unacceptable.

I would expect that as a financial institute and with the national consumer protection act forming part of our constitution, that a bank representative would contact me with the intension of finding an amicable solution to the issue instead of demanding and threatening the client.

Please could someone contact me to find an amicable solution to this issue.

Best Regards

Hugh E.
