Utterly disgusted at ABSA credit life.
Good day. I am one extremely unhappy and upset customer right now. I took out a personal loan with ABSA bank just more than a year ago. At the point of consultation, the consultant offered me an insurance on the loan, incase i get retrenched or face loss of income. Now due to the current pandemic our country is facing, i have not been called back to work yet, however i am still employed at the company. I took the 3 months payment holiday for April, May & June. I am still not called back, so beginning of July i called ABSA credit life and explained my situation which they then advised that credit life should kick in and pay the installments of my loan. The 08th July i sent my application in, and to my suprise i got debited for the loan at the end of July. I called credit life and they advised due to a backlog my application has not been seen to. Anyway the 03 August my claim was approved and creditlife paid over the installment for the loan and redunded me the that was meant for something else into my bank account . I call Absa again 13th August and explained im still not back at work and ask if i must reapply again or will the insurance automatically pay the installment, the lady advises that my claim was only approved was for one month and she isn't sure why, how ever i must send through a new application while she escalates my query and gets an assessor to contact me. I called back yesterday (17aug) to find out if my claim was approved yet for the month of Aug, the gentleman tells me i can only claim for one month. Now when i signed up for this insurance i was told should i loose my job they will cover upto 12 months. Now today is the 18th Aug, still no one from ABSA contacted me regarding my query. I am utterly disgusted in the service and treatment I have received. I spend almost R200 airtime calling the call centre with no luck. Should the debit order bounce for the personal loan installment at the end of the month, i will not ne liable to pay penalties etc as i have done my bit by putting my claim in well in advance. My husband banks with Absa, he has a personal account aswell as his business bank account is with absa, we are moving our business elsewhere as this leaves a bitter taste in our mouths.!! Very very disappointed. Naeemah
