Useless follow up to my query.

On the 30th Sept my credit card was debited an amount of $7,97 to Amazon Digital Service. I have no knowledge of purchasing anything from Amazon, so I went to ABSA and queried this transaction. I was told they could not help me at the branch, but that my query would be sent to the card division and I would hear back within the next week. A week and a half later I get an e-mail stating that there is nothing ABSA can do about the charge and I must take it up with the merchant concerned. Firstly, I did not make any purchase that I am aware of. Therefore my concern is who made the purchase and used my cards details and how was this payment authorized? I do not even have an Amazon account or even a Kindle! Secondly, when I tried phoning the ABSA consultant back on the number provided, it is the call center, and after getting asked to enter my 16 digit credit card number, I gave up. It seems like it is impossible to actually speak to someone until the problem can be sorted out. My worry is that with all the card ***** out there, that once this small amount is cleared, perhaps a larger amount will be withdrawn. I have no idea how to prevent this from happening in the future.
