Useless Customer Service

Where do I start. Firstly, when i go to ABSA, I generally stand in the queue for at least an hour before I am able to speak to a consultant. How is it that when I walk into a Capitec Bank, there are ay least twice as many customers but I am helped within ten minutes tops. Finally I get to the front of the queue. We go through the fica process and sort out my cellphone banking. The next day, a phone call from ABSA : my signature didnt pull through on the forms, I have to come in and sign again. I'm irritated but not surprised - the consultant was distracted, constantly doing little things on the side for the other consultants. I rush through in my lunch break to go sign again. When the consultant finally helps me, she asks for my ID. I tell her I don't have it- she said I need to sign again, not that we need to do the whole process again! She looks at me like I'm an idiot. We need to do the whole process again so I need to go in AGAIN. Suddenly my ABSA Online app isnt working. it wont aceept my pin. Back to ABSA - a different branch, hoping it will be quicker. It isn't. Finally i get to a consultant who says she can't do the FICA process with me - I need to go back to the original consultant, else the original consultant will always have this file open on her name. The consultant says she does not want to cause extra effort for the original consultant. Are you kidding me?! You don't want to inconvenience the original consultant WHOSE MISTAKE THIS WAS, so you are going to inconvenience me - the client?! The consultant phones the ABSA where the original consultant was to explain. In the interim, new consultant checks : my signature did pull through originally and I have been FICA 'd! Right so, three trips to ABSA, hours wasted, but there wasn't even an issue with my signature. Okay, so we sort out my online banking - I need to change my card pin. Done. Great, I can log in. I leave and go to do spme shopping. Swipe my card. New pin doesnt work. Again I try, but new pin doesnt work. Third time i try old pin, and it works. I rush back to ABSA to try fix this - which pin must I use now?! ABSA is closed but there are still a couple of people inside - one being the manager. I gesture - i need to come in, ABSA has made a mistake and it needs to be fixed. What am I supposed to do now?! From inside the bank, a consultant or the manager shows me the bank is closed. Another consultant cpmes out and says I should go to another branch that is still open. I explain that I am not going to go to a different branch, when an ABSA consultant in this branch has caused this, by a mistake on their side. I am met with a reply : "Well, ypu can't say it was the consultant's fault. It was a system error and we have had lots of those today." Once again, are you kidding me?! The consultant works for ABSA and represents ABSA, but I can't say it was a mistake made by her?! Morning wasted. Hours in the bank has caused more damage than good. What a fruitless effort and total waste of time. Once again - had I gone to Capitec with this, a friendly consultant would have sorted this in no time and in one visit. Three visits to ABSA and no success at all. Not impressed at all.

thank you to Julia Burns (branch manager at Durbanville ABSA) for the phone call this morning. I was met with a very kind person and a sincere apology. An myappointment was also set up for me to meet with a consultant (at a time and branch that suits me), to sort all the issues out.
