UNPAID FUNERAL BENEFIT

ABSA is refusing to pay my mothers funeral policy benefits. A policy she had for over a decade , and only increased it in feb 2020.

I went to absa queenstown , the guy who helped me said everything was fine and money will be payed in 2 days. he also did mention that she increased the cover amount in February , which means that she does not qualify for the extra amount she recently increased with, which was understandable.

To my surprise on the day I was suppose to get the payment to arrange for moms funeral I received a call from Absa telling me that my mothers policy has lapsed , they wont be paying. My question was, what was the cause for it to Lapse and why was I told a different story at the branch. The caller told me that they did not get money on her account . How is that possible when My mother gets payed every month and she only goes to withdraw in town on the 2nd of every month so that she can withdraw her money together with her sassa grant and do everything all at once since she stayed in the rurals. Is it my mothers fault that they never went to her account and take their money? how did her other policies manage to debit and still leave money on her account..

When I ask for them to print me her statements they come up with all sorts of stories. We demand answers ABSA. Stop *********** poor peoples money. My late mother trusted you as her bank
