I have vehicle and finance with absa, the vehicle was written off in December and the insurance paid off the settlement amount with the bank. To my surprise I received an email from the bank claiming that I still owed them one instalment. I then tried to call the bank to get clarification to no avail. My next step was attaining a new vehicle in which I made a plan to get the dealership to settle the “remaining instalment” with absa. The dealership then called me to tell me that I actually don’t owe absa anything instead they owe me, in which I tried to call them back again and still could not get a solid response. Instead they broke down the “one instalment” they had mentioned on email into R154 per month for the remaining term of the vehicle finance. Mind you everything happened without my approval and I’ve been trying to get hold of them without any success. Left messages for their insurance division but Anthea March, Masego and Faith are always unavailable.
