Unhappy Squatter

Hello Peter. Honestly my family has received the worst service from ABSA building insurance. We had a fire last week Tuesday leaving us homeless for the past week. There is a literal HOLE in the middle of the roof and the way ABSA has been unbothered about the claim or the situation is truly horrible.

Firstly there is smoke damage EVERYWHERE our family is currently staying in the only liveable room in the house. The assessors came out yesterday and they were shocked at what they found the assessors words to us were “there is asbestos all around the house and we should have been out of the house the the same day. But due to ABSA not taking any responsibility we were told to find a place to stay which they would pay the rent for and we would have to put down the deposit.

We have been struggling to find a place to stay as every agent we speak to about rental properties would like assurance that the bank will be paying the rent and the bank refuses to do so as they pay only month to month.

My family is literally squatting on our own property without running hot water, without electricity and with a family member who has severe chronic asthma it is honestly unacceptable.

Truly the worst insurance out there. If you value your families lives please choose another insurance because they are unbothered about you or your families safety.
