Unhappy client
This will be the subject: ABSA Vehicle Finance – Incorrect Debit Order Date, Unfair Arrears Charges & Forced Repossession I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the way ABSA Vehicle Finance has handled my account. From the start, ABSA has been debiting my vehicle instalment on the 26th of each month, despite the fact that my payment date has never been the 26th. This date does not align with my salary date, and as a result, the debit orders frequently bounced. I have sent numerous emails requesting that the debit order date be corrected. Despite all the communication and follow-ups, the issue was never resolved. Instead of assisting me, ABSA continued debiting on the wrong date, causing my account to appear in arrears, an arrears situation caused entirely by ABSA’s error.
Shortly after, I began receiving multiple threatening calls advising that the vehicle would be repossessed. The arrears amount given at the time was extremely high and impossible to settle in one payment, especially considering the arrears were due to ABSA’s negligence. To avoid further ************ and threats, I eventually handed the vehicle over.
After months of back and forth communication with no resolution, ABSA is now demanding an amount of R300,000 to be paid within 5 days. This figure has not been explained, nor is there any clarity on how the amount was calculated. What is even more unacceptable is that this entire situation could have been avoided had ABSA simply corrected the debit order date as repeatedly requested.
I am in no position to pay such an amount and I do not understand how a customer ends up owing R300k after handing over a vehicle especially when the fault was never mine. I made every attempt to resolve this issue before the vehicle was repossessed.
I am urgently requesting:
1. A full and transparent breakdown of how the R300,000
2. A full investigation into the incorrect debit order handling.
3. Removal of all charges, arrears, and penalties that resulted from ABSA’s failure to correct the debit date. 4. An immediate and fair resolution as this matter has caused unnecessary stress, financial strain, and reputational damage
ABSA’s negligence has placed me in an impossible situation, and I am asking for this to be addressed urgently and fairly.💔😡
