Unfair Outcome!

Good Day

On 10-04-2018 my father Moses Tsetsewa visited your Jabulani Branch to go reverse 2 debit orders that he didn’t authorise. 2 hours later her received a call from “someone" claiming to work for Absa, giving him full information of he’s personal details and what he had gone to do in the bank that particular day. The person on the other end kept telling him to press the number 1 to avoid any further unknown debit orders in the future to STOP debiting in he’s account as he’s been cancelling unknown debit orders MORE THAN ONCE, the last 1 was reversed on 7th December 2018 which went through he’s account. The caller also advised him to press the number 2 to reverse the debit orders automatically without him going to the bank.

A few minutes later, he received the first sms of money going OUT of he’s account, then the second sms then the third.

He went straight to the Jabulani Mall Branch being the closest to go report the matter and was told it will be investigated.

Now on the 7th December18 my 63yr old pensioner father went to reverse another debit order he didn’t authorise and only then was he told that he won’t get he’s refund back from the **** that happened in April 2018. He was told it wasn’t approved as the transaction was done through he’s phone.

My Issues are:

1. No one was in contact with my father the entire 9 months to keep him updated as to how far the claim was. 2. He used he’s pension money to catch a taxi to the mall every time he went to enquire about the claim. 3. How did you reach the conclusion that the transaction was done through he’s phone as this is a 63yr old who used a Nokia phone at the time and had NO internet on he’s phone. 4. How did the caller know exactly what he had gone into the bank to do that day. Either your systems were hacked or someone working in the bank leaked this information. 5. My father does not have access to cell phone/internet banking so how was this activated via cell phone or who authorised it. 6. This is the second time he gets **** at Jabulani branch, the first it was a bank teller who stole R500 from him but he was refunded as the footage at the bank showed the teller taking he's money.

Is this how your oldest costumers are treated as he’s been banking with Absa since forever? Is Absa that bad that you FAIL our pensioners that you can’t even protect them???

I emailed Bulelwa Gaba on the 10th December 2018, to date i have not had any reply from her and she read my email.

I’m sick to my stomach at this outcome and I’d like to know how you reached this conclusion that he doesn’t deserve he’s money back. I will be taking this further. If this doesn’t get your attention I will go to every media platform willing to listen. I’m very disappointed in this service!
