On the 11th October 2017 I received over 35 transactions come off on my ABSA cheque account. Transactions that were made over 5months ago. My account is now in over R3000 overdraft. I called the ***** line and Customers Services which informed me that the transactions would be reversed. After hearing nothing I went into my ABSA bank and spoke to one of the Managers. I was told that there is nothing they can do and that I must log an escalated complaint with Head Office. They will investigate the matter and should get back to me in 7 working days. I was then told that the Credit Department will be phoning me as my account is in overdraft so I better transfer money into it. I explained that it is not my fault my account is in overdraft and that they must notify the Credit Department so I do not get charged interest. ABSA has left me with no money and I refuse to use my Credit Card as then I will be charged interest. I am very disappointed in how ABSA is handling this matter. I am not the only one who has been subjected to this dilemma and ABSA is not giving any answers. I have been a loyal customer for over 14yrs and have never experienced such poor and unhelpful service. I have 3 accounts at ABSA and I am strongly considering changing banks. How can a bank take my money without my consent?
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We will investigate the matter and furnish feedback once the matter is resolved..
