Uncaring, plain and simple

I have an account with ABSA vehicle and asset finance, and I haven't been able to pay the instalment for the past 4months due to being laid off as a result of COVID-19. I have since returned to work on the 05 Sept and resumed payments...I requested a restructuring deal to have the arrears put on the capital debt and paid off within the remaining payment period and I have been declined reason, and I quote is "Account 4 months in arrears we cannot restructure.'' How exactly was I supposed to keep up with payments while out of work for something that was beyond my control? I had not missed any payments prior to covid-19. I don't understand why, if I am making a commitment to resume payments, this bank cannot understand...or are they just that uncaring? or they just want to repossess my vehicle so that they can make more money?...this is just pathetic
