Unauthorized Transaction Absa Bank Account

I have always been proud to bank with Absa up to this point. It has been an absolute pleasure , I have always been able to receive the assistance when needed . However I am completely appalled by my recent experience and this over the festive period.

On Saturday the 26th November I received a message for R 1,299.00 that went off of my account for a service that I did not subscribe to, . I immediately contacted Absa online banking to have the funds reversed as I know there is a time limit to these transactions.

A very helpful lady assisted me with the e-mail address for the authorizations department. On the same day I sent an email with my ID number, the authorization number and a screen shot of the transaction where I explained what happened and why I need these funds reversed.

after that it was all downhill the only communication I received was an automated response with a case number . I then sent a follow up email on Monday morning , however I still did not receive a response. Out of options and desperate I then phoned the General enquiries helpdesk just to be told that unfortunately there is no one who can assist me / escalate the matter as the authorizations department only works on e-mail. I would have to go into the branch to get this sorted. I find it appalling that the authorizations team have no accountability to respond to emails that are time sensitive and this over the festive season where every cent is needed. since Saturday I have been directed to 3 different departments within Absa and no one is able to assist

Just to add to my frustration on the 29th September an unauthorized debit order went off of my bank account (R 4,619.48 with a reference RCCS.Bos J) when I contacted Absa online I was told to contact the collections department. again an unauthorized debit that I did not consent to or receive so much as an e-mail or a phone call requesting consent for this transaction and this for an account where arrangements had already been made.

The fact that Absa can nonchalantly just take funds out of your account without prior consent from the account holder is absolutely disgusting and makes me question whether my hard earned money is safe with Absa Bank.

I am completely disgusted with the lack of Response from Absa and the carelessness in which they operate
