Unauthorized debit orders

I received an SMS notifying me of an amount that went off my account. The details "ACB DEBIT:EXTERNAL MTN*******, I immediately went online and managed to have the debit order reversed. I went to ABSA Claremont branch to close my account and only to be told that I have to pay R300+ because of that unauthorized debit order they failed to protect me from. A bank is supposed to protect us from such unauthorized debits but there is zero protection against such debits from ABSA. I am NOT paying R300+ for charges that came because of a useless bank. Anyone using ABSA, know that your funds are not safe!
