Unauthorized Debit Order: ABSA Bank

Frustrated by ABSA bank:

I have somehow fallen victim to a depit order ****. When I went into the branch to reverse the transaction & wanted to how a debit order could be authorized without my explicit consent no answer was given.

I was told to contact the company who made the debit - their contact number (given to me by the bank) does not work.

To top it all off I was charged for the reversal of the ********** debit. So I lose all the way.

Would love a proper answer as to how a debit order can be authorized without my explit consent. Moreover how is ABSA going to stop this happening in future? As much admin as it is, the next step to protecting myself is to simply close my account.
