Unable to register new FICA details

I am required by law to provide a new proof of address for FICA. Since 26 March I have tried to get a satisfactory response from Absa as to why my 22 year old ID book, which BTW they have had on file since 1998 and was accepted by my 4 other financial institutions (Bidvest literally 2 minutes before going into Absa Liberty Midlands Mall and African Bank 5 minutes afterwards) was rejected because "the ID number's don't match". One digit is slightly blurred on the date of birth - the ID no. however is perfectly clear, and this was from some bored OTT pedantic clerk who should never be in a frontline "Customer Services" position, which implies one will receive some level of service. This was immediately reported to Complaints and I was promised feedback by 30/4 by Lesley Harris, nothing received. On 13/5 I received an email addressed to "Dear Unknown Unknown" (I kid you not!) saying the case has been closed! Why? I'm still waiting and my patience is wearing thin. The lockdown is no excuse any more. I have many accounts with Absa and am about to become an ex-customer very soon. They don't even deserve one star for this kind of dis-service.

Thank you to Amanda, Branch Manager of Liberty Midlands Mall, who responded to me personally and the matter has now been resolved. It is very much appreciated.
