Total loss compensation is lower that sum insured.

Hello Peter

My father was involved in a car accident on the 20th June and unfortunately his car was written off after absa i-derect's investigations. It stated clearly on the 2014 updated policy that the vehicle is covered for R52 100 effective from 01-09-2014 to 01-09-2015 and nowhere on the policy from first to last page they talk about retail value. Now after the vehicle is written-off their books they now claim that is was insured on its RETAIL VALUE which is way lower than the insured sum on the policy.

I have checked values of the similar vehicles with dealerships and these nothing less than R70 000 and I'm convinced that this is a rip-off to my father. On the other side monthly premiums for June and July is deducted in full when the vehicle is written off.

I wish someone superior from ABSA i-derect that look to this matter cause I tried to communicate with consulates but I run out of luck.
