Today, Tomorrow, Together...NEVER!!
I recently contacted ABSA's help-you-sell property division to facilitate the sale of my property. I am under debt review and required their assistance pertaining to the concession of interest as well as signing acknowledgement of debt for the outstanding balance. At that time I received a cash offer which I accepted since it was the ONLY offer I received in 7 years and it was market related as confirmed by ABSA's appointed valuator. Nishalin Masana, although seemingly helpful initially, continually produced obstructions and unnecessary delays. Additionally, I declared my situation up front and advised that I do not have contact with the then debt counselor and that they no longer exist to which he assured me it wouldn't be a problem. After I had provided all the documentation randomly required, Nishalin informed me that he requires a letter of acknowledgement of debt signed by the debt counselor (which as I mentioned, no longer exists). Once again, the target was moved and it became clear to me at this point that the bank's mandate is to not facilitate assistance at any cost. I questioned Nishalin regarding the requirement of an acknowledgement of debt letter from a third party as opposed to myself as well as what the final amount is that I would be agreeing to and have not received any correspondence since. It is unfortunate that as a result hereof I am obliged to cancel the sale agreement. What does your motto "Today, Tomorrow, Together" actually mean? We will build communities and see people prosper or (as I'm inclined to believe) ruin your clients "Today, Tomorrow, FOREVER"! I will no longer bank with ABSA nor will I recommend your services. My single voice might be insignificant from your complacent, conglomerate perspective, lest you forget the impact of a united people.
