Today, tomorrow, the day after, next week...
After ending up in a financial tough spot, I contacted ABSA to get an overdraft facility. This was around 12 on Tuesday 21/072015. It was also confirmed to me, as I suspected, that I was to take an overdraft because my specific account does not qualify for an Instant Loan. This was also a matter of quite some urgency, petrol money and food, etc.

After sending through all the required documentation I anxiously awaited a response as to whether or not I had been approved. From Wednesday to Saturday I have contacted them at least twice a day in order to find out where I stand in the application process. Each time I was told that the assessor working with my application is unavailable and would get back to me as soon as possible. In the meantime my financial situation kept getting more and more dire, and no contact from ABSA was received.

I eventually had to resort to applying for a payday loan from one of the smaller companies, a situation that I DESPERATELY wanted to avoid. The bank that I had been loyal to for ten years, since I opened my first account when I earned a mere R200 a week, has once again let me down.

I will now, like ALL of my peers, move to FNB.
