The worst experience I have had with ABSA.

I am honestly disappointed and heartbroken ABSA for the treatment and poor service you have given me.

I contacted you over a month ago about the financial problems I was experiencing and the effect it was starting to have on my accounts and payments as I was retrenched last year and been trying to find work which has been worsened by the lockdown.

During this time, my debit orders started to fail, and I had to make payment arrangements to stop it which was a slow process as companies were starting to react to the pandemic.

During this time, ABSA has allowed my account to go into arrears and when I attempted to transfer money over to pay some of my bills (My loan and credit card), it was taken for banking fees and further into an arrears amount thus rendering my account useless.

I voiced my opinion about this in a complaint and got a copy and paste response about the account and the ticket was then closed in which I immediately responded to state that I did not regard the issue to be resolved at all.? At the same time, I complained that I had learnt that I had an insurance policy on my loan and credit card and began the process of claiming from it with no information on this policy but regardless, I say it as hope and was prepared to go down that route.

The loan was covered for an amount and a confirmation letter was sent, but now I see a failed debit order attempt on the account for the loan followed by another threat of legal action on the cheque account?

In addition to this, I’m told the credit card won’t be covered because it was in credit at the time of retrenchment and my argument here is that I had accounts still been removed from the card and was still settling the card in full from my severance before the financial load started to overwhelm us. Despite this, I do not see any record of the Terms of the policy and feel its unfair that ABSA has been charging me for this still.

To top it off, considering that there were 3 issues here and only one got resolved after complaining, there are still 2 outstanding issues that has not been resolved and is still been disputed. Despite this, ABSA is still sending me letters of intent AND noticed of debt relief which is sending a very mixed message.

You also claim that you have attempted to contact me but the only employees of ABSA I have spoken to in the past 60 days was the service agent that received my complaint and the insurance assessor for the claim. I have received no other communications from you except your useful harassing SMS that the cheque account is in the arrears.

As a result, I honestly dont know what is going on here and you are causing undue stress and uncontrolled debt for me while making nearly impossible to rectify the problem because no one from ABSA has taken the issue and dealt with it.

These are difficult enough times and I’m honestly shocked that I have been with ABSA for over 15 years and a single bad phase is enough for the bank to kick me while I’m down?

I am asking you now to take this matter seriously now as I am the one always compromising on the service I receive ABSA and as I have stated, I have been with this bank for 15 years (track my ID) and its sad that a bad phase in life is enough for the bank to throw you under the bus? Im trying not to leave but it feels like you are trying to push me out. Please resolve this now as its gone on for to long and I wont allow you to cause any further stress to me or my family as a result of this.
