THE INSOLENCE OF ABSA

In May 2019 I lodged a dispute with Experian and sent them a "paid up letter".

In October this year I moved from FNB to ABSA - ABSA made EIGHT enquiries on my credit profile for four products - a bank account, a credit card, a tiny overdraft and of course they wanted to take over my vehicle finance.

I lost my temper and demanded that ABSA correct this with Experian and that my credit score be restored to normal and that ABSA restructure the interest rates that it is charging me since the interest rates were based on false information. Through these ridiculous enquiries due to the inefficiency and plain stupidity of Experian and ABSA, my credit score has fallen over 45 points in less than 5 weeks. This is the letter that I received from Experian:

Madam,

See attached photograph.

ABSA has made EIGHT enquiries on my profile not FOUR!

I did log a dispute for a Telkom account last year in May and also sent you a PAID UP LETTER

I am not interested in your administrative deficiencies. I am interested in getting my credit score back to where it should be!

Your administrative deficiencies have resulted in me being quoted and accepting higher interest rates on loans from ABSA.

ABSA and Experian – get your ACT together because I am going to see Noseweek friends tomorrow!

Lunga – Carol, Julie and everyone who has written to me from Experian will be named.

CAROL!!! SORT THIS OUT NOW! Get my credit score up to 690 at least! And get your “credit” that you so fondly refer to, to offer me a much better interest rate!

12h00 tomorrow is your deadline!

Good day, Kindly note that I have tried to call you twice and the call gets answered however it’s just silent. Please note that you logged a dispute with Experian for a Telkom account. When a dispute is logged, a flag is placed on that account indicating that its being disputed. You also logged a dispute for the same account with TransUnion. Upon resolution of your dispute with Experian, the Telkom account did not reflect on your profile as it was removed by the Bureau to Bureau sharing process from TransUnion with the dispute flag as it was still being disputed on Experian. Telkom then re-submitted this account and the account re-loaded with the correct status however it loaded with the flag. The flag has since been removed. Absa has confirmed that the three enquiries done by them on your profile is correct as it was an application for an overdraft, Vehicle and Asset Finance and Credit Card. Carol Nkumane "Private Banker" - Claremont; Julie Hammond - clerk at ABSA Claremont - the two main players who simply do not have a continental clue. Neither Julie or Carol are aware that "hard enquiries" from banks knock points off a credit score! How uneducated! I am not in banking but even I know this. My credit score has dropped 45 points in 5 weeks due to their utter stupidity! Off to the ombudsman and the Press.
