The Absa/Fica Zoo - Locking of Accounts
The bank 'locked' my account without prior warning on the 28th November 2014. On this date I called their call centre and was requested to send my ID and a utility a/c to an email address they supp****. The account stayed locked until I discussed the matter with a Mr Giovanne Hardenberg. He asked me for the same documents I emailed the day before. My account stayed locked. On the 3rd day, I visited the branch and gave him 2 docs to copy. In the course of day 3 my account was unlocked.Yesterday I discovered the bank locked the same account again. I was near near Absa Wynberg and discussed the matter with a person at the enquiry desk. She called my 'relationship manager' a Mr Irwin? Knowlesden?. He requested I sign an Absa document and I told him what happened yet again.Bizarrely, he informed me that he wants to visit my home (since 1978) 'to verify that I live at this address'. We arranged a time from beteween 8/8.30am today and no-one showed up by 9.15am. I called him and was informed that he drove past my house with the wooden fence (I have a steel fence) and 'verified from his car' that I lived at the address the bank has on record since 1978. My account is still locked. Laguna
