The a ***** in the night

Now this is something all home owners should be aware of. In 2014 I bought a house for R880 000, what a deal. As first time buyers, no deposit needed so I was delighted. Little did I know that Elaine from Absa's home loan department in Bloemfontein ********** 432 insured the house for R9 million. Yes I know ***!!! I told her listen this cant be right unless my house is on an oil well. She said: " I cant change it otherwise I have to do the entire process all over again. I will change it when it is complete." I called her after a month or so to ask about the insurance cost, because we never got a full statement of the insurance, we always just got amount borrowed and total we have to pay. Which in our mind was 20 years at 9.5% the repayment looked correct. SO after so many many years I eventually got a Full statement via email, I almost fell off my chair. According to my statement my insurance for the house cost me R1240 because my house is now insured for R11 million. I have been paying a R1000 + every month for their incompetence. That is nothing she also made the time period 30 years so I would never realize the mistake. Because R880 000 @ 9.5% over 30years is R7400 + the R1240 insurance + 14% vat (2017)= R9849.6. So I thought that we paid the correct amount. That is the tip of the iceberg, I even called head office and they told me I have to pay an assessor to validate my property if they made a mistake. I also what to mention that Elain is getting R2500+ commission just form this deal alone, every month. According to the statement. And I can promise you, if my house would have burned down they would never have payed out the full amount. So Absa what now??
