That's banks for you - the little man must hop to their tunes
After some ********** debits by an international company came to my attention, I reacted immediately by going to the nearest branch which was in Rondebosch where we were residing for the holidays. The 1st young lady told me there's probably nothing they can do and the fact that the bank was offline the whole day didn't help matters much. I had to wait for Christmas and boxing day to pass before going in again. his time another young lady helped me out and we reported it. After taking their own time to get back to me I had to call again. This time they said that it was in the wrong department and that it would be referred to the right one and that I might have to wait another 30 days. I reacted by calmly stating that they really do not want me to wait that long. Luckily about 4 days later the amounts were reversed and the only other thing (and for this I love my branch - always getting great service) was the bank charges (unpaid transaction fee) which were reversed as well.
Then about two weeks ago someone from ABSA called and said that the company claim that these ere legitimate purchases and when I asked her how they proved that, she spoke of my EMAIL ADDRESS. How does an email address prove that you made a purchase? So she put a journal through to charge me with the fees.
Subsequent to that I spoke to the dealer and they reversed a few of the transactions and referred me to the bank to sort the others out.
Now I got sent from pillar to post and eventually am currently trying to get a hold of the lady who took the case. She's just missing.
I've learnt from people banking with other banks that you have to authorize transaction of an international nature. not sure what I am to do here.
