TEARS FOR ABSA - SECOND TIME AROUND

Qatar Airlines were offering a special on air tickets booked before 17 January 2016. I tried to book three tickets to the UK to visit my son. I tried on numerous occasions that evening to put through the transaction but the transaction kept on declining. The ABSA card division could find no reason for the transaction declining. I tried to lodge a complaint with ABSA but got to response from their complaints department. I then took the matter to the Ombudsman. ABSA then decided to come to the party and offered me R2000 for my inconvenience. Needless to say I refused their R2000 as this matter has cost me more than R2000 in stress and financial loss. After months of nagging ABSA they say it was a system error. I could have paid R32000 for three air tickets to the UK but landed up paying R50 000 for my son, his wife and tiny baby to now come to South Africa as it turned out to be the cheaper option after the long delay from ABSA as the air tickets had escalated so much in the meantime. I think that ABSA trying to fob me off with R2000 is a disgrace. What happens if a person really has a medical emergency and the card declines for no apparent reason. Their help desk was of no value.
