Sucks
<p>so I try open an account with absa for 3 weeks online to be told by the call center I must go to the branch. I wait at the branch for 2hrs to be told my me ID is not acceptable without a marriage certificate</p>

If you have changed your Surname(marriage) it is standard paractice to provide the Bank with proof of your Marriage certificate.
