Stay away from ABSA bank!!

My nightmare of being an Executor.

After 6 months and 17 days I finally got access to my Moms money from her bank account. This was AFTER we had to fork out THOUSANDS of rands for Funeral and cremation costs, BCM bills, yard clearing and tree felling services, Attorneys fees and Electrician bills, not to mention hundreds of rands in petrol, electricity, data and airtime.

For me the worst experience so far (besides for not being allowed to grieve the loss of my Mother yet) was the way ABSA bank treated us. Over 17 employees had no idea how to do their jobs and did nothing but lie to me throughout the entire process. Not one of them did their jobs or ever got back to me and I was left with an Estate Account that I could not access for weeks on end while bills were piling up and we had to continue to use our personal money to pay Estate costs, which I might add had all run out due to the loss of jobs caused by the lockdown so this put me even further into debt as I had to borrow money to pay Estate costs when these costs should have been paid from the Estate Account. This left me starving to death and almost homeless but still nobody cared. I was very fortunate to finally get hold of Sharon at ABSA who sorted out all our problems in only under 1 hour which is very odd since everyone else at this useless disgusting disrespectful bank either said that it could not be done or transferred me to someone else or promised to get back to me, but every one of them was an unprofessional ****. So if Sharon can do her job so easily what is everyone else's excuse?! My words of wisdom here are: DON'T EVER USE ABSA FOR AN ESTATE ACCOUNT! (I only used them because my Attorney forced me to do so but I was against it from the start as I knew how unprofessional and inhumane they are)

ABSA bank now owes me about R180 in airtime. At least R19 in data. R160 in AA rates for my vehicle and at least R3500 for me to get my back fixed at the chiropractor after being forced to stand for hours in a que with my back problem and not being allowed to sit on a chair while I wait due to me being under the age of 70. I also think that it is beyond apauling that customers have to stand in the pouring rain and scorching sun for hours (and even days from what I have heard from other clients) on end. No cover or shelter of any kind and no chairs allowed unless you are over 70 years old, but even then, only two old people are allowed to sit down at any given time and the rest must stand. That's correct, ABSA BANK can ONLY AFFORD to buy TWO chairs for their clients to sit on in the que! The over 70 year olds also have to share those two chairs with "able bodied" people but any disabled people under 70 are forced to stand! Yes, you read that correctly, the sign clearly states that the chairs are for "70 and over" and "able bodies" only. NOTHING FOR DISABLED UNDER 70!

I have been with Capitec for many years now and we are treated so humanely. First of all I am allowed to have both internet banking and cellphone banking for my accounts so I don't need to drive to the bank until my card expires. Then when I do go to the bank I get to immediately SIT in the cue INDOORS, no back pain, no wind, no rain, no scorching sun. Just pure comfort. Also, with Capitec, if I have a job at the time, I can take a lunch break and go to the bank in a lunch hour instead of having to apply for leave to go and stand there for days on end and be treated worse than a neglected and abused animal like at ABSA!

ABSA you are a complete disgrace and should be immediately shut down due to your inhumane, cruel abuse of your clients and the fact that you cannot train your employees to work in a bank yet you have employed them to work in one.

To this day ABSA still refuses to tell me how to view the transaction history on this estate account. I sent them emails all the time for months on end and they continually **** to me that someone will get back to me and they continued to refuse to answer my questions. I finally figured out how to access this info no thanks to them. Now my latest problem is that my Mothers Estate money has been kept in this ABSA Estate Account for many months (awaiting approval to distribute from the Master) yet they are giving us little to almost no interest on all this money. I have been continually emailing them to ask where our interest is and when they are going to pay it in but they continue to lie saying that someone will be in touch with me but to this day I have received NO replies to ANY of my numerous emails regarding the interest due on this account. If I have to drive all the way to ABSA bank YET AGAIN to solve this ongoing problem I am going to be forced to sue them for my costs and severe stress.

If there is any possible way that HelloPeter can force ABSA to reply to my emails or at least contact me on WhatsApp I would be very greatful.
