I contacted Absa homeloans in May. I queried my homeloan account and i found out that I am paying R1600 per month for insurance. This is only building insurance. No life cover. I asked whether I can move the policy to another company as this is excessive and I was told that it is possible as long as the building is insured for the same amount. I contacted a couple of insurance companies and their premiums arebetween R600 snd R800 per month. I took out a new policy with Santam and sent a copy of the policy to *** . After that I have sent various emails to which I have not had any response, although I have received replies that the messages has been received. Now Absa phones me every day, demanding me to pay R1600 on the bond account. I have explained the situation numerous times. I have asked for a supervisor to contact me, but I get no co-operation from Absa. I have not paid the insurance if R1600 for the last two months. I asked Absa to cancell the policy, I asked numerous times to find my emails and respond to me, but it is ignored. I would much rather pay off R800 extra on my bond, than throwing money down the drain for Absa's excessive insurance.
