Sneaky Under-handed Fee

About 3 years ago ABSA required me to change my ATM card (for whatever reason at the time I can't recall?) They replaced it with a Debit card, and I didn't think anything of it other than they were combining/converging both ATM and Debit Cards into one (makes sense).

I received an SMS towards the end of last month (July) to advise that I need to come in to a branch to have my ATM/Debit Card swapped as it will expire at the end of Aug'17.

Thinking nothing of it, I popped into a branch, and what seemed to be a ridiculous palava of thumb print scanning, signatures +++, I get my replacement card. (easier to get a new passport!)

And as usual, ABSA once again never surprises me when it comes to fee's and charges! I see I've been charged R120 for a replacement card - specifically a Debit Card that I have never and will never use for debit store transactions (only ATM withdrawals). Why would I use a debit card when I already have a credit card with you and it's associated costs?

Why can't I just have a standard ATM card, that I originally had?

PS : I noticed you initially charged me zero (R0.00) and then decided to charge me the R120?
