Shocking Service from ABSA Homeloan Department
My parents were under Debt review until 2017. When they came out of debt review, they were told by the debt review company to continue paying their contributions of R1400.00 per month.
The court order that was completed in 2010, said that they have 240 months for their ABSA home loan (that means until 2030). They went to ABSA Bank on 20th May 2017 and got a print out that said they had 12 years and 11 months left. So now in 2020, according to the court order, they should still have 10 years remaining. According to the print out from ABSA in 2017, they should have 9 years remaining. However, ABSA says they have 4 years!!
My parents were contacted in June 2020, to tell them they were in arrears and that their instalments were in fact R13 000 odd. Why did it take them 3 years to tell my parents that they are not paying the correct amount? They clearly had my parents telephone number, so this is no excuse. How come are they suddenly now in arrears, and the instalments have gone up by 1700%. Since June my parents have made numerous phone calls on deaf ears and without a single attempt to phone my parents back or assist them with this matter.
On 26th August they went into their local ABSA Branch and were told to see the Consultant. He then advised my parents that they needed to talk to the Customer Service ladies, as there had been "a lot of problems with ABSA bonds". They spoke with a Customer Service lady called Melissa at the home loans department whilst she was looking at it with her Supervisor when the call got cut off. The Customer Service lady called again, this time she spoke to a woman by the name of "Lebo", who said she would call my parents back within the week. THEY ARE STILL WAITING FOR THAT CALL.
They then contacted Daniel Peyper at Homeloans who was very helpful over the phone and said they needed to send an email which was sent on 18th Sept 2020. To date, they have had no reply. They called again on the 23rd of October (having now been served a summons for their house) and were told to send an email to the legal department. Once this email had been sent, they received an email back asking for an Income and expenditure list, from who knows what department at ABSA.
All my parents want to know is what is happening with regards to the remaining term on their bond. All ABSA is interested in is the instalment of R13 000. My father has been retrenched, and cannot afford that amount each month. The service that my parents are receiving from ABSA Home loans is disgusting. My parents have asked to go in to see someone about this, and are not getting anywhere in this regard either.
We will NEVER recommend ABSA for a Home loan to anyone. If this is how they treat their loyal customers, who have been dealing with them since 1994, it certainly doesn't say much for the company.
