Shocking service from Absa Bank.
At about 17:15 on Monday 9 March I discovered that I had been pickpocketed and that my wallet containing my credit and debit cards was gone.Within 15 minutes of my discovery,I phoned Absa Card Division to notify them of my loss and to put an immediate stop to my Absa cards. This was done immediately but the consultant informed me that a ********** purchase had already been made on line.Fortunately the purchase was rejected as the ***** had entered the wrong pin number.I was then asked by the consultant if I would like to apply for a new credit card.I rep**** in the affirmative.I was then informed by the consultant that my new credit card would be ready for collection within 5 to 7 working days,On Wednesday 18 March[9 days after reporting the loss ],I visited the N1 branch of Absa Bank to determine when my credit card would be ready for collection. The consultant phoned the Absa Card Division and the consultant to whom I spoke informed me that the card was in the final stages of being processed.I again visited the N1 branch of Absa Bank on Monday,23 March. [14 days after notifying the bank of my loss .]Once again the procedure was the same as before. I spoke to a consultant from Absa Bank Division who assured me that my card would be delivered no later than Wednesday 25 March Today is Thursday 26 March [17 days after notifying Absa Bank of my loss ]and still nothing has arrived. This is totalling unacceptable. I am well aware of the coronavirus epidemic and the problems associated with the virus but most of what has happened happened before President Ramaphosa,s announcement of a national shutdown.I am seriously considering closing both my wifes Absa account and mine.
