Shocking customer service - Table View Branch (Audry )

I have decided to change banks and opted to take my business to ABSA.

I app**** online and was offered the Platinum Cheque Bundle. I submitted all my documents online.

I was asked to visit my local branch, submit all my Fica docs, and to get issued my cards.

Up to now, I was very satisfied with the overall service received.

Up until I got to deal with a very abrasive and insulting consultant, named Aubry.

I stated my reason for visiting the branch, was asked for my documents which I provided.

I was told that my lease agreement could not be accepted as it was not witnessed. I then inquired as what is acceptable, and I was told that I needed to obtain an affidavit. (Which I also had from police station).

Okay, so up to now, I understand that this is banking protocol. Then she handed me the ABSA affidavit document, and when I wanted to put it in my briefcase and walk away to have this sorted out, I was then instructed that "she needs to explain this to me so that I don't get this WRONG again". This was an English document, and we spoke English, during the entire conversation. This condescending remark does not do your bank any favours.

Is this how you treat all your new customers?

I was contacted by the branch, and an apology was offered and accepted. Thank you ABSA for the prompt response.
