Shocking Communication, unjust charges.
I happened to go through my spam SMS on Monday while travelling for work and see a thread of three messages from Absa;
12 August| The first stating that they failed to contact me and want proof of my vehicle insurance not older than three months in fourteen days or they will charge me R1457.41 insurance premium on my instalment.
22 August | (ten days later) an sms saying that my policy agreement has been sent for processing.
16 September | an sms saying to please send proof of insurance to avoid insuring the vehicle on my behalf.
I have emailed Avaf services, as well as ***ca (as requested in the sms). Five days later I have no confirmation if the information that I have sent through was sufficient.
I have just checked my banking statements now and have found that last month I was charged by Absa (R1444.74 ontop of the R962.87 insurance that I pay) for vehicle insurance.
Firstly, why has proof of my insurance become an issue thirteen months into the financing?
Secondly, I feel that if you are going to subtract money out of my account - you could at least attempt various forms of communication - I am very responsive to email, but hardly check through my sms's due to the amount of spam (hence me only seeing a request for proof of insurance a month afterwards in the spam folder.)
Third, I have received no paperwork, anything to sign, proof of insurance - just a debit to my account, where is the receipt or paperwork for insurance paid for?
Fourth - It is now close to month end, I have sent multiple emails (more than sms's received, and I have not received acknowledgement that the proof of vehicle insurance is sufficient.
I feel that the communication from Absa around this is shocking, and that the charge for insurance is unjust. Absa should do right and return the charge. Can Absa not just query the policy number that they have had for the past thirteen months?
Please sort this out Absa. Return my money.
Best regards,
