Settlement made but still have outstanding amount

My wife's car was written-off and insurance company requested a settlement amount which we obtain from the bank on the 9th of December 2015 valid till 14-12-2015. We submitted it immediately to the insurance and the payment was made on the 14th December 2015. We made a followup with the bank if payment was received on the 30th December 2015, and to our surprise the payment was made but late according to the bank \17th December 2015"so there is an outstanding amount of R1048.44. My wife was told to get a proof of payment and we requested one from the insurance and their remittance showed 14-12-2015"
