Service delivery determines your measure of success in the industry. This was definitely a fail.

Today at 13H57 we entered ABSA, the mall of Africa branch. My 8 year old was really excited as we wanted to open a bank account for her. We set and waited, eventually the branch doors closed. My husband got to the door and asked to be let in, he was refused access by the guard. There was only two consultants, we were the second last to be assisted. When we got to the consultants desk we were ignored as she was having a conversation with her colleague. Eventually she acknowledged us. I made her aware about our request and that my daughter already has a future plan account. Eventually I was told since my mum opened it I would need to supply fica documents, I requested an email address so I can send it through, I was then told I need to supply my marriage certificate. During this, my husband is still standing outside the doors. The consultant said she hadn't received my documents, it was sent again and we continued waiting. I was then asked for a copy of my ID with my ****en surname. Eventually I was asked if we could leave the details on my mum's information. I haven't ever had such a difficult time opening a bank account before. I was told we will be given information about the a/c and details for a broker. We left without a card, or any other information. My daughter is terribly upset. It might be a child's bank account, but the service was terrible, my daughter even asked if can't go to another bank. We left the bank at 15H30, tired annoyed an upset. My husband waited outside during all of this. Irrespective of the amount or type of account, we were willing to entrust our funds to you... Service delivery determines your measure of success in the industry. This was definitely a fail.
