Savings account blocked due to inactivity even though I have been to a branch!
Hello,
I have contacted your Support Line and I had a terrible experience. The teller simply hung up on me after my unnaceptance of this issue!
Bottom line is:
I've been to Absa Canal Walk (Cape Town) branch on August 2017 in order to have my visa details updated and finally my bank account was back to normal (after about 5 visits).
4th September 2017 my husband EFT'd R50 from his FNB account to my Absa savings account ( ********** 855) and again in October.
As I was due to receive my UIF maternity leave benefit and my SARS tax refund by October/November, I have now checked my Absa account to only find out that none of the EFTs my husband has done were received! (and obviouslly no UIF and no SARS refund). He now checked his bank account and all the EFTs came back with some UNP34 code.
I have now contacted Absa Support Line and they have informed me that my account is blocked due to no transactions/inactivity. Even though I was at their branch on August, by the end of this same month my savings account was declared inactive! Funny is that the Absa monthly fees were deducted every month until today even though my account was blocked! And this fees were not counted as transactions...
It is the first time I see a SAVINGS account that requires monthly transactions!
I am out of the country and will not be back anytime soon.
Therefore I request that my account is made active immediately.
I can be contacted via email as my South African number is not in use at the moment as I am overseas.
Regards.
