Save me from Incompetence

<p>During May this year we were hit with heavy storms which caused damage to various rooms in our house. The storm also blew the motor on our driveway gate. A claim was submitted to Absa Insurance. An assessor came to view the damage in June and advised us that he would need to contact Absa to send another assessor. An assessor from Jihannesburg contacted us and advised that he would come to our home for the assessment on a certain date. He did not do so. In fact we did not even receive a courtesy call informing is that he would be cancelling. We did not even receive a call from Absa advising us of this. Despite numerous calls to Absa, we, to date, received no feedback. We approached an attorney and despite my wife giving telephonic consent for them after going theough the security process, to speak to her, we were once again told to go through another delaying process. We were then told that the roof tiles were broken and this was done prior to the storm. It baffles me how this was ascertained especially as any previous storm did not result in such damage. Further, why were we never provided with a report prior to this. We keep asking for feedback and get nothing in return. Is it the goal of every insurer, but specifically Absa, to take my insurance premium every month without giving me any returns rightfully due to me?! Further to the above, we have seen severe storms in the recent weeks which has made the damage worse. Again, trying to get any sort of response from Absa is like pulling teeth. I will be approaching the Insurance ombudsman and I hope that Absa is taken to task for their appalling service.</p>
