Reversal of a transaction
On the 25 july 2017 i transferred(IB) money to a standard bank account paying Mr*** and after 5 days he called a said that he did not receive the money and i asked Absa to trace the money and i was told it was deposited in the account that i provided. I asked Mr *** to check his statement from standard bank and he was told that the account has been allocated to someone else i asked absa to reverse the transaction . I sent an email and absa reponded that the matter will take 2- 3 weeks to be resolved and they keep on sending the same message after every 3weeks. After 3months they responded and say that the were unsuccessful to reverse the transaction & they can't even give me the reason why and i must contact the owner of the account or consult a lawyer. absa only responded when i do a follow up . I went to standard bank and explained to them and i was told that Absa must be the one that contact Standard Bank and request the reversal of the transaction to the amount of R3000. i don't have proof that indeed they consulted Standard Bank. I tried to call ********** 000 with no luck . Absa is saying to me that they cannot help their client i must go and resolve this matter by myself. My Ref No (EC ********** 4). Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Customer
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. It is so unfortunate that we could not do the reversal and the funds not received. there could be various reasons as to why we were unable to recoup the funds:
- Either the owner of the account did not want to give consent.
- There were insufficient funds into the account.
- And with these reasons give Absa is unable to assist further.
