Retrenched and Policy cancelled no notification.

<p>I took a loan from absa in 2013. In 2014 My employer started to have financial difficulties and started to pay us late and I missed payments. I got retrenched in 2015 and went to the branch and was told that my policy lapsed and wont pay out. As an ex ABSA EMPLOYEE I somehow knew they were suppose to notify me about the policy that lapsed like sending an sms and a formal letter. I was called by lawyers demanding payment and I told them that I was still trying to get information from absa how i was notified that my policy has lasped. I started to work again recently and contatcted absa Life to find out when my policy was cancelled and why I was never notified.I spoke to Lionel from they call centre and he told me ABSA was suppose to send me a notification via sms and confirm my cell number which i still hold. I requested statements through they call centre and Pearl told me rudly to send a email to copies@absa to get staements. I send the email and received email from absa with a reference number *** on the 18/05/016 and still today 23/05/2016 I have not recieved the statements.</p>
