Reserving payments and debiting again - WHATS THE POINT OF RESERVING?

Where did my R446.00 disappear to? payments are debited when the payment is reserved by the merchant then debited again two days later. You keep counting the same merchant twice and now i have just over R400 missing which i just cannot understand where did i debit it from.
