Requiring ID & slow service

I had to go deposit a cheque for my employer at your Westville Mall branch. The branch compliment for tellers is only 2 so if you go during lunch hour expect to stand in a queue for your entire lunch hour. The teller then asks me for my ID No, even though this is not my account and I am depositting on behalf of somebody else whose details have already been written in. I was informed that it is legislation. I have quered this with the other 3 banks ie Standard Bank, Nedbank & FNB and all of them have said there is no legislation like that.

With all the ***** and *******ion I refuse to give my ID details to a bank other than my own.

All I can say is I an glad I don't bank with ABSA.

Typical pass the buck onto the branch when these matters are apparently a head office choice. To date I have still NEVER been asked for ID when been asked to deposit money in other banks. So really a reply from head office and not just the branch manager who ulitimately has no choice in staffing levels as it is set by HO.
