REQUESTING ABSA PROTECTION FROM **** DEDUCTIONS

I have a savings account with ABSA Bank, for over thirty years now and am generally satisfied with their service. But, since beginning of year 2018, I have noticed a number of unknown / unauthorised debit orders deducting amounts of R89.00 or R99.00 (the figures keep changing), from my savings account. Each time I have had to go to my nearest branch at King William's Town, to explain this and get the deductions reversed. What frustrates me is that per each reversal I am charged about R30, as if I had authorised the debit order. I am a regular reader of news media and know that this is one of the ****s currently doing rounds and accessing clients' accounts *******ly. Then, my major question is, "What is ABSA doing to protect me, as a client, from this ****"? The impression I was given, when I went to enquire at their Cathcart Street Branch, in King William's Town, was that there is nothing they can do to protect me. My monthly salary is always deposited on this account : "does that mean I will one day lose my whole earnings into this ****"? I have considered changing my account number (not necessarily away from ABSA), but this might cause / risk me to default on legitimate debit orders from creditors I have lawful agreements with. What do I do? As we speak, I am sitting with an SMS from ABSA, sent at 10h08 today (25/05/2018), with Reference ********** ********** , purportedly from RESAHOSTIN, reminding me of an R89 debit order to go off on 25/05/2018. I know of no such debit order and obviously never authorised it. Very frustrated, indeed.

Thank you. I will look forward to hear from you soon. Already I have your two SMS's of rejected debit orders, sent respectively, 06h37 on 25/05/2018 for R98.00 and 06h18 on 26/05/2018 for R89.00. Both debit orders are unknown to me and it is fortunate that at the time of their implementation there were no funds on my account.
