Repossessed vehicle
I bought a car in 2016 and it was financed by ABSA. Last year my had mechanical problems and I took it to the mechanic to be fixed and then the President announced Covid 19 pandemic. Well everyone was trapped indoors. Since I wasn't making money to the installment, the bank called me to tell me about unpaid bills, and I was aware of the situation. I told them that I was not working and the car had mechanical problems and it is with the mechanic. They asked for the address of the mechanic which I give it to them. They told me that they will take the car from the mechanic, I must not at all, they will take responsibility. They communicated with the mechanic and that was around August or September 2020. All along I thought they took the car only that they left it there, then I started to receive monthly statements, I called the ABSA VEHICLE FINANCE department, I was told that they will call me, and I sent them emails regarding the billing, I got an email that I must go and collect the car from the mechanic my issue has been resolved, but I didn't understand what they were saying because to my knowledge the car was repossessed. I then replyed the email and the response was to contact the customer service department, which I did, they then referred me to collections and called the collection department, and they told me that I must contact the Legal department, I did call and they told me that the person who is handling my case is not at work but will send him an email. Till today, I am still waiting for the call. The main issue is that why r they billing me for the car they said they are repossessing?
