Refusal to release my money during emergency situation

On Thursday last week I went to ABSA bank The Boulders Shopping Center Branch in Midrand so that I can access flexi reserves funds in my home loan account. I was told that my account is placed on hold I need to provide a clearance certificate. I was put on a call to speak to a lady who told me that once the hold is removed, it will take 5 to 10 business days before I can access the funds. The consultant assisted me to request for a settlement letter from ABSA on my credit card which I only got on Monday when I went back to the branch.

I request that my case should be treated with urgency cos I needed to pay some builders who were working on my property and secondly I have a family health emergency to sort out.

I was placed on a call with absa Debt review because my account were under a voluntary debt review and they were all paid off last year. The gentleman I spoke to by the name of Paul advise that it was not the first time that they uplifted a hold on such account and paid the client the full flexi reserve money. He promised me that a gentleman by the name of Busani will call me on Wednesday 03 July which is today. He also said I can go ahead and open a an absa transaction account where the money will be paid in, which I did.

Later that day Busani requested for the Clearance Certificate which I sent on Tuesday morning 02 July. On that same Tuesday, Busani emailed me to say I not be able to access the fund until after 12months saying that the clearance certificate was recently issued. Meanwhile when I was on calls with some of the consultants, they were providing me with different information.

Today Wednesday 3rd, I got to the bank at 8:30am till 3pm pleading with them to release just a small portion of the money to me so I can pay for a family health emergency surgery and to pay the worker yet they refused.

The Manager who was asked to call me since 10am only spoke to me at 3pm saying my phone was not going through meanwhile I was i the branch but no one called me.

ABSA have just brought pain, suffering and depression in my life. I don't know what to do or where to borrow money from.

All the processes that they talked about, i did not know. I wouldn't have put my money into that account if I knew I could not access it.

All I want is for them to release a portion of my money to me and keep the rest. I don't want the full amount. I just need R200000 to solve urgent matters.

Absa cancellation Manager is so rude and does not care about customers need.
When I asked to speak to the manager, she gave excuses that she was in a meeting. I requested to speak with her at 10am she only called at 2:45pm. She **** that my phone was not going through meanwhile I was still at the branch and my phone never rang.

She used the consultant office phone to talk to me, however she never wanted to listen to me. She **** to me that I do not have a flexi reserve but other could see that I have reserves.

Absa care only about your money and not the customers. They have very old legacy processes that are not flexible to meet customers needs at difficult economic situations. Even the branch consultant are frustrated with their processes. One can not get an issue resolved at one phone call. One have to speak to so many people just to answer a simple query.

I will not recommend any one to invest or have Absa as a credit line. You will be frustrated if you do. A very stiff-nake bank.

The role of a manager is to solve in listening and solving customers problems is key but the absa cancellation department manager is a dictator who penalizes the client instead of listening to the client and looking for solutions.
