Rebate banking rip-off

I started on ABSA's rebate banking fee option +/- 8 years ago.

This option requires you to maintaing a minmum balance stipulated by ABSA.

The customer then qualifies for a rebate on banking fees up to a prescribed value.

That value was then, and still is R500.

However in the past 8 years the minumum balance requirement has been raised by 65%

Banking fees have been raise by a similar percentage.

The result is that the customer must now maintain an extremly high balance in echange for getting a rebate on a very small number of transactions (R500 doesn't go far with ABSA's current fees).

It's almost as if ABSA no longer wishes to offer the rebate option and is trying to make it unfeasible to their clients, without having the honesty to admit as much.
