Re: ABSA Cancellation Department

Having sold our property successfully last year in November 2020, which was bonded with ABSA bank, we received a settlement statement on the 05 March 2021. The statement is of the settlement amount due to us. To our excitement we made a follow-up with ABSA to check when the money would be deposited to our account. The response received was the would only be deposited once the cancellation authorization letter is received from the legal company that assisted us with the cancellation. We made a follow-up the the legal company and we were told the information in question was issued to ABSA on the 10 November 2020. The email sent to ABSA was shared with us and we took the info to the nearest branch (i.e. Fourways ABSA branch). This was around the 11 March 2021. The Banker assisted in re-sending the information to the ABSA cancellation department and we were also given list of contact numbers where we can make a follow-up with the cancellation department. To our dismay, none of numbers provided was available. We were told to wait for the response within 48hrs. 48Hrs went and no feedback from ABSA. Two visits later in a month to the ABSA branch, still no feedback. Today (31 March 2021) when writing this complaint, we were told by the ABSA branch that our issue would be resolved and closed and this is not the case. Under this difficult times where everyone is struggling, we feel institutions like ABSA would be proactive in assisting clients, but NO! The department in question seem to be on a holiday. What is more stressful is when one makes a follow-up and re-submitting the same information that has been sent more than 3 times already; we would be told about the 48hrs turnaround time. Third time unlucky with this and we are VERY FRUSTRATED! The following numbers were provided to us to follow-up; *** *** *** *** *** ***
