Queue at Absa branch ATM not safe at all-negligence by Absa Springs!!

I live in Springs and made a trip to Absa in 5th Ave to deposit R110 that was overdrawn on my account.I got a 'threatening' sms. At approx 8:30 my wife and I entered the ATM machine area that is very confined, no windows.... We had to duck under a slide up type door.

When inside there were approx 12 people standing very close and there was literally no air, we were all uncomfortable, so my wife and i walked out. We tried another ATM across the road but it didn't accept cash deposits. On the way out we passed the same branch and saw a lot more people in the que!

This is unacceptable for all of us who were there. How can Absa allow such a confined space, no hand sanitizer and the security not spacing people out!!??

I phoned their customer care at approx 8:40 and told the lady I'm not going to put my life or my wife's at risk due to their lack of foresight and safety of their clients. I'm not prepared to go out looking for an ATM that I can deposit R110 into again, and that they can just wait till month end now.

If I get the virus or my wife does and it can be traced to this day I believe Absa would be responsible. They have cameras and they can check the time we were there, the amount of people in this confined space etc. I've recorded the phone conversation time as well.

I stay on a school premises, very isolated don't have transport, done so my shopping and I'm keeping it like that. I'm not prepared to get a friend to pick me up to go to another suburb either, cause I'll put him at risk and myself, and I won't get someone else to transfer the funds as the operator requested. They can wait now, I've tried and won't do it again!

Shocking, really shocking. Don't they give a **** about people? Don't they know what's happening at Branch ATM's that are enclosed?! I sincerely hope neither of us contact the virus, and my wife is a pensioner as well!!
