Possible catastrophic system failure regarding "tap n go" functionality on Credit Cards

Earlier this year Absa credit card division issued a replacement credit card with a "tap n go" functionality. I was informed by both the credit card division and a branch that the "tap" function is limited to R200 per day, with other words should I loose the card my damages would be restricted to R200/day. This is however simply not correct. I have discovered that I can do tap transactions of far more than R200 at inter alia our local Superspar WITHOUT ENTERING MY PIN. When confronted with the evidence, the Card Division changed their "story" and indicated that the R200 limit only applies to merchants who uses Absa machines. Because the Superspar banks with FNB, the R200 safty net does not apply and tap transactions of up to R2000 is theoretically possible. I asked Absa if I could choose a tap limit (the option available to FNB clients) that will be applicable at all merchants, but was told this is not possible. I have taken the matter up with the ABSA action- line, but they have not responded after 5 working days.
