Poor service during covid 19 lockdown

23 April 2020

Branches around Richards Bay have been closed (Mtubatuba, Empangeni, Esikhawini). This has resulted in people from these areas convening at the branch in Richards Bay. Not only are the queues long, but it has left people vulnerable to contracting the coronavirus.

We spent 5 hours in a queue ( from 9 am to 1pm) . The staff were giving out contradicting answers when they were asked questions. Sadly this also resulted, in most people spending these 5 hours in the queue only to be told when they got to the front of the line that the services they needed were not operational. This included the elderly. We asked the security if the elderly could be assisted first so they could leave as quickly as possibly (bearing in mind that they are the most vulnerable to this virus) and the secutiy at the door outright refused and said he can only give people chairs.

I am not sure why the other branches in our respective areas were closed considering that taxis are only operational at certain times.

I am however, very disappointed by the service received at this branch.
