Poor service and unprofessional conduct
Good day sir/madam
I'm writing this to my disappointment from the treatment I got from Absa collections department.
On this day 14 /08/2020 I signed an agreement or a vehicle purchase with the dealer and Absa Bank. The agreement was that I'd pay through a debit order commencing on the 15th September 2020.
Two weeks before the 15th of September 2020 I received a call from Absa to confirm that I'll have funds in my account on the 15th of September 2020 so they may debit. I confirmed with the agent.
To my surprise Absa Bank never deducted the instalment on the 15th neither for the next 5 days. And on the 22nd of September 2020 I received a call from the guy named Masilo Ariaah who identified himself as a Collections agent from Absa Collections Department.
He then asked why have I not made a payment for the car and I explained to him that I was waiting for Absa to debit my account as per agreement with them twice. He then asked me why didn't I call the bank when I realised that the money wasn't deducted, which really suprised me cause I signed everything authorising the bank to automatically take the instalment every month so that I don't deal with such admin of making cash payments myself.
He didn't want to hear any of that all he kept saying was that I am in arrears and I need to pay ASAP, he started telling me how reckless I am as it's my duty to call the bank. He further asked me where the car was parked so that the bank can come collect it (to repossess) since I'm failing to make payments. To say I was utterly shocked and disgusted is an understatement. I told him I won't pay any arrest for something that was not my fault, but the instalment money is available in my account and that's all I will pay. We argued until I dropped the call because he was being extremely rude.
I then called the bank again and spoke to another agent who was also of no help to me. What surprised me though was that on the system it shows that I'd make cash payments. Who makes cash payment of 72 months for a car? Does that even sound right to anyone? I dropped the call and fetched my documents to confirm if I had done any mistake when I was signing. All my documents show that I opted for a Debit order so I don't know where does ABSA BANK gets it that I said I'd pay cash.
I am so disappointed with Absa bank especially the debt collectors department and I demand urgent action to the reversal of those arrears, activation of the debit order for this month and the next coming months thereof. And I also need a written apology from the Bank for the treatment I received for their own fault.
I am giving ABSA BANK 48 hours to rectify their error and bring my account and name to good standing.
