Poor service
I went to Absa branch in Port shepstone to unlock my savings account. I needed to bring my new I.D (with a marriage surname), a marriage certificate and a proof of residence, which I did. After spending hours in the bank, I was told I need to go to home affairs because the marriage certificate doesn't have an ID number of my spouse. I went. Home affairs told me that since my husband is a foreigner, that's how the certificate is since he doesn't have SA identity. When I went to the bank again, they said I need to get a letter from home affairs stating that. At this point I am so frustrated because it's clear that they are not going to help me, and I'm asking myself what they usually do because I'm certain I'm not the first cluent who's married to a foreigner. Now, I'm sitting at home with no food because I couldn't release my funds. When I asked them to close my account off, they said they couldn't do that either.
I feel like no effort was made to escalate my case. Instead I was given the very fica email address that they were going to send my documents to. If as a staff they couldn't help me, where am I supposed to get help? I am very disappointed with Absa Port Shepstone.
